On May 1st I joined the rehearsal and it was a lot of fun to play band pieces I hadn't played before yet.
We played a piece written by Jack Luo, who is also conducting it here.
I met this boy last year in FoShan when I taught a masterclass there. He was super happy to see me and I was happy to see him too. He's super talented and very into music. He travels to Guangzhou with his dad every week to attend the rehearsals. During the break we got a little extra practice in.
Here's the official pre-concert selfie with the clarinet soloist of this year. Last year I played a woodwind quartet with "the boys". I helped Evelyn find a good reed and shared some performance strategy as we were hanging out backstage. She did great. It feels so great to help out younger players!
